Women's Tennis Travels to Take On Appalachian State Thursday

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women’s tennis team heads to Boone, N.C. to face Southern Conference foe Appalachian State Thursday, Mar. 27 at 3 p.m.

Thursday's match against the Mountaineers will take place indoors at Yonahlossee Racquet Club in Boone due to forecasted cold weather conditions.

The Spartans sit at 4-8 with a 2-1 SoCon mark after defeating Wofford, 6-1, before dropping a 5-2 match against Furman last weekend. UNCG picked up two points from junior Stephanie Falcon (Marietta, Ga./Walton) and classmate Kayla Gammie (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Broward Virtual School) against the Paladins. Falcon improved to 5-7 in dual matches and Gammie has a 6-6 singles record.

Yasmin Franco (Largo, Fla./ Indian Rocks Christian) and Dilara Yurtkuran (Istanbul, Turkey/Gunes Koleii) are 3-1 for the season in doubles play. Falcon and Soumeya Anane (Coventry, Great Britain/Tile Hill Wood School) have won two-straight doubles matches to improve their record to 3-3.

The Mountaineers are 4-12 with a 0-3 SoCon record after having lost six-straight matches. Jessica Thaggard is 7-5 on the season at No. 5 singles. In doubles, Clare Cox and Megan Mullen has a 3-7 doubles record.

Appalachian State will provide LIVE SCORING for the match.
