GREENSBORO, N.C.- The UNCG women’s tennis team will get back to match play this weekend as they host East Carolina and USC Upstate.

The matches will be played indoors at Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center in Greensboro. The Spartans will take on the Pirates of East Carolina Saturday at noon. Sunday at noon will be Spartans versus Spartans as the ladies battle against USC Upstate.

“We have been practicing for a long time,” head coach Jeff Trivette said. “We are tired of beating up on each other. We are looking forward to competing and playing tennis matches that count.”

UNCG enters the weekend at 0-2, after taking on two tough ACC opponents to open up the spring season with Wake Forest and North Carolina. East Carolina is 1-2 so far and most recently defeated Davidson. The Pirates two losses come at the hands of William and Mary and North Carolina State. USC Upstate is 1-5 after a trip to Eugene, Oregon in late January to play Oregon, Portland, and Eastern Washington. Most recently, the Spartans defeated Presbyterian.

“We are excited to have two quality opponents in ECU and USC Upstate,” Trivette said. “We will have to work very hard to come away with two wins this weekend.”
