Women's tennis looks to continue improving in the fall season.

Women’s Tennis Heads to Charlotte Fall Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women’s tennis team heads to its second fall tournament at the Charlotte Fall Invitational Friday, Sept. 20 through Saturday, Sept. 21 in Charlotte, N.C.

The second annual Charlotte Fall Invitational will include teams from Campbell, East Carolina and host Charlotte. The matches will be held at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.

Last weekend, the Spartans took part in the Elon Invitational just down the road earning numerous individual wins, including freshman Yasmin Franco (Largo, Fla./Indian Rocks Christian) and sophomore Asha Iyengar (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) picking up two wins apiece in singles.

UNCG will send eight players this weekend in junior Stephanie Falcon (Marietta, Ga./Walton), sophomore Soumeya Anane (Coventry, Great Britain/Title Hill Wood School), sophomore Jamie Grinberg (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill), redshirt sophomore Alisha Burton (Charlotte, N.C./Zebulon B. Vance), sophomore Amy Ellis (Cheshire, Great Brittian/Newcastle Under Lyme School), freshmen Masey DeMoss (Mayodan, N.C./McMichael), Franco and Iyengar.

UNCG will compete in three more fall tournaments before beginning the spring season in January: the Wake Forest Invitational (Sept. 27-29) in Winston-Salem, N.C., the ITA Carolina Regional (Oct. 17-21) in Cary, N.C. and the Roberta Allison Invitational (Nov. 1-3) in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
