GREENSBORO, N.C. - Sophomore James Dougherty (Melbourne, Australia) and junior Randy Phillips (Snellville, Ga./Brookwood) have been ranked No. 44 in the preseason doubles rankings by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, announced Friday.

UNCG men's tennis is participating in the Wake Forest Open this weekend and has four fall tournaments on the schedule.

The doubles duo made first team All-SoCon in doubles last season after an 11-3 overall record and a 7-1 mark in league play. Dougherty and Phillips only loss in conference was against Furman's Andrew Mellow and Joel Cook.

Dougherty and Phillips defeated two ranked doubles teams last season in Samford's Zac Dunkle and Garrison Laduca, 9-8 (7-3), who were ranked No. 52 at the time. Also back on April 9, they defeated Elon's Cameron Silverman and Stefan Fortmann, 8-4, who were ranked No. 43.

Overall, Dougherty and Phillips won 23 of 30 matches in 2012-13.
