UNCG's match at Elon suspended, will resume Thursday

ELON, N.C. – UNCG's men's tennis match at Elon on Wednesday has been suspended by rain with the Spartans leading 1-0 after capturing the doubles point. The match will resume Thursday at 2 p.m. at The Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

The Spartans (8-10, 5-3 Southern Conference) picked up wins in the bottom two flights of doubles to take the early lead over Elon (8-11, 5-3 SoCon) in the crucial league tilt.

Randy Phillips and Chanon Varapongsittikul cruised to an 8-2 win over Christopher Geaslen and Andrew Prince at No. 2, while Cameron Smith and Jimmy Roueche topped Dan Sablik and Jordan Kaufman 8-5 at No. 3.

The Phoenix avoided the doubles sweep at No. 1, where Cameron Silverman and Stefan Fortmann earned an 8-6 win over Orcun Seyrek and Ahmet Sarioglu.
