UNCG Places 21 On SoCon Academic All-Conference Spring Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – More than 300 student-athletes earned spots on the Academic All-Southern Conference Team for the 2013-14 spring season, the league announced Tuesday. UNCG placed 21 student-athletes on the team, including members of baseball, softball, women’s outdoor track, men’s outdoor track, women’s golf, men’s golf, women’s tennis and men’s tennis

To be eligible, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA entering the spring season and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams’ competitions during the recently concluded winter campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours in the previous two semesters.

Leading the way for the Spartans is the outdoor track and field team, which boasted 10 members on the team, including eight on the women’s side. Sophomore Eira Jensen (Holmveien, Norway/Sortland VGS) owns the top mark among the 21 student-athletes honored in the spring with her 3.99 GPA in psychology, while junior Roy Dixon (Salisbury, N.C./Salisbury) is the top male student-athlete with a 3.97 GPA in finance.
