Men's Golf Heads To C&F Bank Intercollegiate
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG men's golf team returns to action at the 33rd annual C&F Bank Intercollegiate hosted by William & Mary at the Kingsmill Resort and the famed River Course in Williamsburg, Va. The 54-hole event will run Sunday-Tuesday with 18 holes played each day and live scoring will be available on www.golfstat.com.
The 32-team tournament includes host William & Mary, Appalachian State, Binghamton, Boston College, Bowling Green, Bucknell, Drake, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Florida State, George Mason, Georgetown, High Point, IPFW, James Madison, Longwood, Loyola (Md.), Marquette, Michigan, Mount St. Mary's, Notre Dame, Radford, Richmond, Rutgers, St. Joseph's, St. Peter's, Tennessee, Toledo, Towson, Wright State, and Xavier.
The River Course at the Kingsmill Resort hosted the PGA Michelob Open for several decades and has hosted the LPGA for the past decade. The course will play a par-71 at 6,831 yards with the Spartans set for tee times ranging from 8:35-9:19 a.m. Sunday in the first round.
Freshman Taylor Coalson (Dobson, N.C./North Surry) leads the way for the Spartans as he is coming off his best tournament of his young career. Coalson posted a fourth place finish at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate where he maintained a top-five spot through all 54 holes of the event. He leads the Spartans and is the top freshman in the Southern Conference with a 74.86 stroke average through 21 rounds this season.
Senior Robert Hoadley (Southern Pines, N.C./Union Pines) is second on the team with a 76.14 stroke average on the year. Hoadley recorded the Spartans' top final round of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate with a 1-over par 72 to move up 13 spots in the final standings.
Sophomores Roy Dixon (Salisbury, N.C./Salisbury) and Alex Ehlert (Raleigh, N.C./Athens Drive) along with senior Matt Younts (Stokesdale, N.C./Northwest Guilford) round out the Spartans top-five in the lineup. Dixon ranks third on the team with a 76.52 stroke average while Ehlert is fourth at 76.61.
