Coalson Sits In Eighth Place After 36 Holes At Bancorp South Intercollegiate
MADISON, Miss. – UNCG freshman golfer Taylor Coalson (Dobson, N.C./North Surry) sits in a tie for eighth place overall after 36 holes of the Bancorp South Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Mississippi Monday at the Reunion Golf and Country Club. Coalson's play helped the Spartans to an 11th place standing in the team results heading into Tuesday's final round of play beginning with tee times between 8:30-9:06 a.m.
Coalson posted back-to-back 1-under par 71 to finish the day 2-under par 142 in a tie for eighth place overall and is one of just 10 golfers under par after 36 holes. Central Arkansas' James Newton leads the tournament after posting a 10-under par 134 with back-to-back rounds of 67 to hold a four shot lead over two golfers at 6-under par.
The Spartans sit in 11th place in the team standings with a two-round score of 602 (305-297) and are just four shots out of the top team as Troy owns a 598. Mississippi State holds a commanding 14-stroke lead as it posted a 16-under par 560 Monday.
Senior Robert Hoadley (Southern Pines, N.C./Union Pines) is in a tie for 26th place after 36 holes with a 4-over par 148. Hoadley opened the day with a 3-over 75 before posting a 1-over par 73 to close out the day's action. Sophomore Alex Ehlert (Raleigh, N.C./Athens Drive) rounded out the Spartans' top three performers with a 61st place standing. Ehlert posted an 11-over par 155 (77-78) Monday.
