Men's Golf Sits In 12th Place After 36 Holes At Gary Koch Invitational
TAMPA, Fla. – The UNCG men's golf team fired a 599 score through 36 holes and sits in 12th place at the 2013 Gary Koch Invitational co-hosted by Auburn and Kentucky at the Old Memorial Golf Club in Tampa, Fla. The final round of the 54-hole event will tee off Tuesday with the Spartans set for start times between 8:05-8:45 a.m.
UNCG posted a 23-over par 599 after opening with a first round score of 296 before turning in a score of 303 in round two. Florida State leads the event with a 21-under par 555 (278-277), while Georgia Tech is second just one shot off the lead at 20-under par 556 (279-277).
Senior Robert Hoadley (Union Pines, N.C./Southern Pines) is tied for 41st after two rounds with a 4-over par 148. Hoadley opened with a 3-over par 75 before turning in a 1-over par 73. Florida State's Rowin Caron and Georgia Tech's Shun Yat Hak are tied for the overall lead after posting an 8-under par 136.
Freshman Taylor Coalson (Dobson, N.C./North Surry) finished day one in a tie for 51st place with a 6-over par 150. Coalson began the day with a 5-over par 77 in round one before rebounding with a 1-over par 73. Sophomore Roy Dixon (Salisbury, N.C./Salisbury) is tied for 58th overall with an 8-over par 152 (74-78).
Freshman Luke Haithcock (Burlington, N.C./Williams) returned to the lineup and posted a 10-over par 154 (75-79) to sit in a tie for 68th. Sophomore Alex Ehlert (Raleigh, N.C./Athens Drive) rounded out the Spartans' lineup with an 11-over par 155 as he opened with UNCG's top round of the day with an even-par 72 but notched an 11-over par 83 in round two.
