SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – UNCG signee Taylor Coalson won his second straight North Carolina High School Association state 2-A men's golf championship Tuesday at the Longleaf Golf and Country Club.

A senior at Mt. Airy's North Surry High School, Coalson topped Salisbury's Alex Nianouris on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff to lock up his second consecutive title.

Coalson, a Dobson, N.C., native, shot a 2-under total of 140 at the two-day tournament, firing 1-under 70s in each round. A total of 84 golfers competed in the tournament.

Coalson will join the Spartans as a freshman for the 2012-13 campaign.
