GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG men’s golf program was named an All-Academic Team national recipient by the Golf Coaches Association of America presented by Farmers Insurance (GCAA) Thursday for the fourth straight year. The Spartans are one of 141 teams across all NCAA levels and just one of 82 NCAA Division I teams recognized for having a team GPA of 3.00 or higher.

The Spartans placed three members on the Southern Conference All-Academic Team this season, given to student-athletes with cumulative GPA on 3.3 or higher. Senior Roy Dixon (Salisbury, N.C./Salisbury) led the way with a 3.97 GPA while senior Alex Ehlert (Raleigh, N.C./Athens Drive) posted a 3.75 GPA and junior Luke Haithcock (Burlington, N.C./Williams) has a 3.45 GPA.

Additionally, the Spartans had five of their seven members on the SoCon Academic Honor Roll this season, which is awarded to student-athletes with a 3.0 GPA in the 2013-14 academic year. Joining Dixon, Ehlert, and Haithcock on the honor roll is sophomore Carter Jenkins (Raleigh, N.C./Leesville Road) and redshirt sophomore William Thomas (Raleigh, N.C./Green Hope).

To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
