Women’s Tennis Completes Wake Forest Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The UNCG women’s tennis team finished play Sunday afternoon at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.

In singles, junior Stephanie Falcon (Marietta, Ga./Walton) defeated Clare Cox (Appalachian State) in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. Freshman Yasmin Franco (Largo, Fla./Indian Rocks Christian) also won in straight sets against Kristel Sanders (BSU), 6-1 6-2. Franco went 3-1 in singles during the tournament.

Sophomore Amy Ellis (Cheshire, Great Brittian/Newcastle Under Lyme School) fell short in the finals of the D-singles flight versus Wake Forest’s Karen Forman, 6-2, 6-2.

Sophomore Jamie Grinberg (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) lost to Davidson’s Nisha Crouser, 6-3, 7-6 (7-1). Freshmen Masey DeMoss (Mayodan, N.C./McMichael) dropped a tough third set match against Bethany Moore (BSU), 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

UNCG will compete in two more fall tournaments before beginning the spring season in January: the ITA Carolina Regional (Oct. 17-21) in Cary, N.C. and the Roberta Allison Invitational (Nov. 1-3) in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
