GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women’s golf team improved nine strokes in round two of the Lady Paladin Invitational Saturday at the Furman University Golf Course in Greenville. Round three Sunday will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring will be available via www.golfstat.com and www.uncgspartans.com.
Sophomore Lily Crane (Jamestown, N.C./Ragsdale) leads the Spartans after 36 holes with a 157 as she posted a second round tally of 7-over 79. Junior Berglind Bjornsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland/Menntaskolinn I Reykjavik) posted the Spartans’ top round of the day Saturday with a 5-over 77 to move up to 68th place with a two-round score of 159.
Sophomore Sammie Buchanan (Bluffton, S.C./Bluffton) dropped down to 74 place with a two-day total of 161 as he turned in a score of 83 Saturday. Freshman Kristin Powers (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) improved eight strokes from round one, posting a 7-over 79 while classmate Maddie MacClurg (Cary, N.C./Green Hope) trimmed seven strokes from her first round score.
George Regents Augusta leads the field with a 3-under par 573 as it posted an even par score Saturday. Clemson is second at 2-over par 578 (287-291) while Wisconsin is third with an 8-over par 584 (290-294). Ashlan Ramsey of Clemson holds the individual lead with a 5-under par 139 (68-71) while Eunice Yi of George Regents is second with a 4-under par 140 (68-72).
The 2013 Lady Paladin Invitational includes Clemson, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Florida State, Furman, George Regents, Georgia State, Houston, Kennessaw State, Nova Southeastern, Samford, Southern Miss, Texas A&M, UNC Wilmington, Wisconsin and Wofford.
