CHARLESTON, S.C. – UNCG junior women's golfer Berglind Bjornsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland/Menntaskolinn I Reykjavik) posted a team-best 2-under par 74 in the second round of the 11th annual Cougar Classic hosted by the College of Charleston at Yeamans Hall Golf Course in South Carolina. The Spartans will tee off the final round of the 54-hole event Tuesday at 9 a.m. The Spartans sit in 19th place after 36 holes with a total score of 633 (314-319). Clemson took over the team lead Monday with score of 282 for a 36-hole total of 567. The Tigers lead by six strokes over Mississippi State (573) while NC State and the College of Charleston are tie for third at 574.
Bjornsdottir sits in a tie for 49th place after the second round with a 150. SophomoreLily Crane (Jamestown, N.C./Ragsdale) is in 89th place with a 158 (77-81) while classmate Sammie Buchanan (Bluffton, S.C./Bluffton) is in 93rd place with a 159 (78-81).
Individually, Ally McDonald of Mississippi State and Sloan Shanahan of Clemson are tied for the lead with a 6-under par 138 while four other golfers are tied for third at 3-under par 141.
