GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG Softball team will compete in eight games this fall, head coach Janelle Breneman announced Monday. The Spartans will host two home contests during the fall campaign.
The Spartans will open their fall schedule with a road trip to Charlotte Friday, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. followed by hosting the 49ers Sunday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m.
On Sept. 28, UNCG will begin play in the Ray Chandler Memorial College Tournament held in Raleigh at the Walnut Creek Softball Complex. The Blue and Gold will face East Carolina in their first game at noon and Campbell in their second game of the day at 2 p.m.
The Spartans return home for a doubleheader against Pitt Community College Friday, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. UNCG will finish the fall season with a pair of games in Rock Hill, S.C. against Pfeiffer and Winthrop.
Last season, Breneman led UNCG to the SoCon Tournament Championship game in her first year as head coach. The team welcomes seven newcomers, while only three seniors departed due to graduation. The Spartans had a 38-19 record their best since the 2003 season.
