Figueroa Finishes Play at Softball World Cup VIII
World Cup of Softball VIII
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - UNCG junior Aisha Figueroa (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) finished competing for the Puerto Rico national team at the 2013 Softball World Cup in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) Hall of Fame Stadium last weekend.
Puerto Rico finished 0-4 against the top teams in the world but Figueroa finished second on the team with a .375 average. She started the first two games at right field and at second base collecting three hits in six at bats. Figueroa also was 2-for-2 in stolen bases and scored a run in eight plate appearances.
Figueroa will also participate in the 8th Pan American women's softball championship from August 8-17 hoping to help Puerto Rico qualifier for the Pan American games and ISF world Cup.
The Virginia Beach, Va. native will enter her senior season with 57 career stolen bases and is 33 steals away from tying for second best all-time with Mary Greenway (2007-08).
