Strandlund Competes at ISF Junior Softball World Championships 07-07-2013

Tournament Bio

BRAMPTON, Canada. –
UNCG softball rising sophomore Chelsea Strandlund (Victoria, B.C./Lambrick Park) helped the Junior Canadian softball team to a fifth-place finish in the ISF Junior Women's World Championships in Brampton, Canada last weekend.

Canada finished with a 5-3 record in eight games, including a 4-0 victory against China in the playoff round on July 5. Canada would fall to bronze medalist Australia, 3-0, on July 6 to finish the tournament in fifth place.

Strandlund played in all eight contests including two starts against the Czech Republic and Korea. Strandlund started in right field going 1-for-3 with an RBI triple against Czech. She also started in right field against Korea and went 1-for-4 with a single. She finished with 10 plate appearances in her first international tournament.

During her freshman season, Strandlund played in 43 games, starting six at second base. She finished with 14 runs scored, a double and four RBI.
