GREENSBORO, N.C. – Southern Conference leader Georgia Southern completed a three-game sweep of UNCG with a six-inning 10-2 win over the Spartans at the UNCG Softball Stadium on Saturday. Heather Robb's mammoth two-run home run in the fourth inning accounted for all of UNCG's offense.

The Spartans (16-25, 6-9 SoCon) found themselves down 6-0 in the bottom of the fourth when Robb broke up the shutout. Eileen Horsmon got things going with a one-out walk, and one batter later, Robb hit the first pitch she saw out to left for a towering drive that settled at the base of the bushes lining the wall of the UNCG Soccer Stadium.

GSU (25-12, 11-1 SoCon) jumped on the Spartans early in the contest, plating three runs in the second inning. Tabby Douberley, who had a homer and two RBI in Friday's game-two win, continued to torment UNCG, this time with a three-run homer off the top of the scoreboard in right center.

The Eagles added another run in the third on Andrea Tarashuk's RBI double, then plated two more in the fourth on a Hanna Ennis double and Marie Fogle's RBI groundout.

After Robb pulled UNCG within a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth, GSU put the game into mercy rule territory in the top of the sixth.

The Eagles took advantage of a dropped fly in the outfield to score four unearned runs, with Tarashuk hitting another RBI double and Shelby Morrill hitting a three-run homer to right with two outs to make it an eight-run spread.

UNCG had the heart of the order coming up in the bottom of the seventh, but Katelyn Bedwell's two-out single wasn't enough as the Spartans dropped their third straight and were swept for the first time on the season.

Tarashuk was 3-for-3 at the plate for the Eagles, while Morrill and Douberley had three RBI each.

Bedwell, Robb, Horsmon and Aisha Figueroa accounted for UNCG's four hits.

Freshman pitcher Brooke Red improved to 9-0 for the Eagles, allowing two runs on three hits in five innings. She struck out two and walked two. Marla Thompson pitched a scoreless sixth, allowing just Bedwell's single.

Cory Mattson (10-13) took the loss for UNCG, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits and five walks in four innings, striking out one. Josie Felix pitched well in relief, allowing four unearned runs on two hits and a walk in two innings. She retired the side in order in the fifth.

UNCG returns to action Wednesday when it hosts No. 23 North Carolina for a doubleheader at the UNCG Softball Stadium at 4 p.m.
