GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG senior forward Hakan Ilhan (Stuttgart, Germany/Univ. of Stuttgart) has been named this week's Blue Chip Performer sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina after leading the Spartans to a 2-0 start in Southern Conference action. The Blue Chip Performer is chosen weekly from all sports in season and will run through the 2012-13 UNCG athletics campaign.

Ilhan, who was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week, played a role in all five of the Spartans' goals in their victories over Davidson and Appalachian State. He scored six points on the week, posting four assists and scoring a goal. He tied the UNCG single-game record for assists in a game, handing out four helpers in the first half against Davidson. His four assists are a single-game record for UNCG in the NCAA Division I era.

Ilhan followed that performance up Saturday night scoring the game-winning goal against Appalachian State. The goal was his team-leading sixth of the season and helped the Spartans avenge their lone regular season loss from last season.
Ilhan and the Spartans return to action Tuesday night as they host Atlantic Coast Conference foe Clemson. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
