GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women's soccer team has signed five prep seniors to play for the Spartans in 2014, the team announced Tuesday.

Ashley Hurley (Northport, N.Y./Northport), Regan Lehman (Wilmington, Del./Padua Academy), Kayla Perry (Huntington Beach, Calif./Marina), Jordan Salvador (Johns Creek, Ga./Northview) and Melanie Spensiero (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic) will join the squad as freshmen next season.



Ashley Hurley, midfielder, Northport, N.Y./Northport

Hurley, a midfielder from Northport, N.Y., played two years varsity for Northport High School. She also played seven seasons of club soccer for Fury in Albertson, N.Y. under club coach Paul Riley and Mike DeMakis. DeMakis also coached UNCG teammate Nicole Epstein. Hurley made the New York state team and the regional team during her club career.




Regan Lehman, midfield, Wilmington, Del./Padua Academy

Lehman, a center midfielder from Wilmington, Del., was a three-time all-state award winner, including being selected to the Top-11 team as a junior. Her team also was a two-time state champion and Lehman scored the game-winning goal on a header in double-overtime against rival high school Caesar Rodney as a sophomore in 2012. Lehman played 11 seasons of club soccer for Delaware Rush in Hockessin, Del. under club coach Mark Hagerty. She was a five-year club captain and an eight-time Delaware state champion. Her team also was a 2011 Region 1 finalist and a 2013 Region 1 semifinalist.



Kayla Perry, midfield/forward, Huntington Beach, Calif./Marina

Perry, a midfielder/forward, from Huntington Beach, Calif., was a two-time all-league player in the sunset league and earned offensive Player of the Year during her sophomore season. She was named Most Valuable Player after her junior year. TopDrawerSoccer.com had Perry as a three-star recruit heading into her senior season at Marina High School. Perry played three seasons of club soccer for West Coast FC under club coach Doug Swanson. Her team was the West Coast Tournament champion and earned first place in the PDNPL in 2013.






Jordan Salvador, defender/midfield, Johns Creek, Ga./Northview

Salvador, a defender/midfielder from Johns Creek, Ga., was a four-year starter for Northview High School earning second team all-region in 2013. She was the 2013 Region 5A Player of the Year and was selected to the 2013 All-Star game. Salvador was a two-time team captain in 2013-14 and Northview High School Defensive Player of the Year. She played 10 seasons of club soccer with Atlanta Fire United at the highest level in the Elite Clubs National League under coach Demetrius Donald. She was a two-time State Cup champion in 2009 and 2011. Salvador was a three-time Atlanta Cup champion (2009-11) and finished second in the Region 3 premier league (2011-12).






Melanie Spensiero, midfielder, Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic                                  
Spensiero, a midfielder, from Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., was ranked as a three-star recruit according to TopSoccerDrawer.com after her junior season. She helped her team capture the CIF Southern California Division II regional championship in 2012. Her team also won three Trinity League titles (2011-13). Spensiero is a scholar athlete earning a 4.0 GPA each semester. She played club soccer for West Coast FC under club coach Doug Swanson. She was a teammate on the club team with fellow signee Kayla Perry. She was named team captain of the West Coast FC from 2011-14.
