GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG women's soccer freshman Katherine Rodriguez (Franklin, Father Ryan) has been named this week's Blue Chip Performer sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina after scoring three goals, including the game-winning goal against Samford over the weekend. The Blue Chip Performer is chosen weekly from all sports in season and will run through the 2012-13 UNCG athletics campaign.

Rodriguez scored her second-straight game-winning goal against Samford last Friday to help UNCG move into first place in the SoCon. Off a corner kick, Rodriguez headed home the game winner in the 41st minute and followed up that performance with her first career two-goal effort against Chattanooga. She scored the first and third goals in a 4-0 victory against the Mocs.

The Franklin, Tenn. native has scored all four goals in conference play with two game-winners against Georgia Southern and Samford.

Rodriguez and the Spartans return to action Wednesday, Oct. 24 against in-state rival Elon at 7 p.m. at Rudd Field.
