Volleyball's Katherine Santiago Named Spartan Top Performer
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG volleyball freshman libero Katherine Santiago (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Colegio Adianez) has been named this week's Spartan Top Performer. The Spartan Top Performer will be chosen weekly from all sports in season and will run throughout the 2012-13 UNCG athletics campaign.
Santiago continued the sensational start to her career in the match against American during this weekend's Spartan-Aggie Invitational, racking up a match and career-high 32 digs. She was named the tournament's top libero and earned a spot on the all-tournament team for her efforts during the weekend as she averaged 5.15 digs per set. Santiago was the first Spartan to eclipse 30 digs in a match since current junior Kellie Orewiler tallied 36 in a four-set affair at Western Carolina Oct. 30 of last season.
The rookie currently leads UNCG in total digs (123) and digs per set (3.97). She is also one of just four Spartans to play in every set this season.
