Three Track Athletes Earn SoCon All-Freshman Honors 02-24-2013

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The UNCG indoor track and field program placed three members on the Southern Conference All-Freshman team in four events at the 2013 SoCon Indoor Track and Field Championships this past weekend at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem.

On the women's side, Katherine Link (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) and Lydia Saina (Eldoret, Kenya/Kapkenda Girls School) earned All-Freshman honors. Link picked up the recognition in the mile run as she posted a personal-best time of 5:15.20. Saina earned the accolades in the 5,000-meter run as she also notched a personal-best with a time of 18:42.44 to finish 23rdoverall. 

On the men's side, Josh Crawford (Fayetteville, N.C./South View) earned All-Freshman honors in two events, taking home accolades in both the mile run and the 3,000-meter race. Crawford posted a personal-best time of 4:20.10 in the mile run to finish eighth overall and pick up a team point for the Spartans. He also turned in a personal-best in the 3,000-meter race, clocking in at 8:46.22 which cut over five seconds off his previous top time.
