Women's Track & Field Posts Five Personal-Records At High Point VertKlasse
HIGH POINT, N.C. – The UNCG women's track and field program posted five individual personal-best times at the High Point VertKlasse meet at Vert Stadium Saturday.
Junior Shannon Hall (Waldorf, Md./North Point) led the way finishing sixth in the 400-meter performance race with a personal-best time of 58.11. Hall trimmed over a second off her previous high mark of 59.53.
Freshman Eira Jensen (Holmveien, Norway/Sortland VGS) took home a second place finish in the 800-meter part race. Jensen cut over a second of her previous best time, posting a mark of 2:19.96.
Three Spartans finished in the top 10 of the 1,500-meter part race with freshman Lydia Saina (Eldoret, Kenya/Kapkenda Girls School) leading the way with a fourth place finish. Saina posted a personal-best time of 4:44.80, trimming almost six seconds off her previous best time of 4:50.78.
Freshman Katherine Link (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) finished sixth overall with a personal-best time of 4:48.52 while junior Kelly Montague (Garner, N.C./West Johnson) placing seventh with a new top mark of 4:48.53. Link improved her top time by almost four seconds (4:52.43) while Montague cut over five seconds off her top time (4:53.89).
The Spartans return to action next weekend with a pair of events as the squad splits between the Raleigh Relays and the Stanford Invitational.
