WILMINGTON, N.C. – The UNCG women’s golf team concluded day two at the difficult three-day Landfall Tradition hosted by UNCW at the Country Club of Landfall’s Pete Dye Course. The Spartans tee off the final round Sunday an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring will be available via www.golfstatresults.com.
Alabama leads the event with a 1-under par 575 through 36 holes and is the only team under par on the difficult course. UNCG posted a 662 (330-332) in the first two rounds against competition that included 14 nationally ranked teams.
Junior Berglind Bjornsdottir (Rekjavik, Iceland/Menntaskolinn I Reykjavik)leads the Spartans with a 6-over par 78 Saturday and sits in 63rd place with a 159. Sophomores Sammie Buchanan (Bluffton, S.C./Bluffton) and Lily Crane (Jamestown, N.C./Ragsdale) have a 165 and 169, respectively.
Alabama’s Stephanie Meadow leads the event individually with a 3-under par 141 (70-71), while two other players are tied for second at 1-under par 143.
In addition to the Spartans, the field features host UNCW, Alabama, Arizona, Clemson, Duke, Iowa State, Michigan State, Mississippi, North Carolina, N.C. State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Purdue, South Carolina, Virginia and Wake Forest.
