Women’s Golf Finishes Round One At Landfall Tradition
WILMINGTON, N.C. – The UNCG women’s golf team concluded day one at the difficult Landfall Tradition hosted by UNCW at the Country Club of Landfall’s Pete Dye Course. The Spartans tee off in round two Saturday with tee times between 8:30-9:06 a.m. Live scoring will be available via www.golfstatresults.com.
Alabama leads the event with a 3-under par 285 in the first round and is the only team under par on the difficult course. UNCG posted a 330 in the first round against competition that included 14 nationally ranked teams. No. 16 N.C. State is just seven strokes in front of the Spartans while No. 15 Iowa State is nine stroke ahead.
Junior led the Spartans with a 9-over par 81 in the first round. Sophomores Sammie Buchanan (Bluffton, S.C./Bluffton) and Lily Crane (Jamestown, N.C./Ragsdale) are tied for 71st overall with a 10-over par 82.
Alabama’s Stephanie Meadow leads the event individually with a 2-under par 70 while four other players are tied for second at 1-under par 71.
In addition to the Spartans, the field features host UNCW, Alabama, Arizona, Clemson, Duke, Iowa State, Michigan State, Mississippi, North Carolina, N.C. State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Purdue, South Carolina, Virginia and Wake Forest.
