NCAA CENTRAL REGION - TOURNAMENT CENTRAL

NORMAN, Okla. – UNCG sophomore women's golfer Fanny Cnops (Ghent, Belgium/K.A. Voskenslaan) makes her second career NCAA appearance as she travels to the NCAA Central Regional this week hosted by the University of Oklahoma. Cnops is one of just 18 individuals chosen for the field that includes 72 team entries in three regionals across the country.

The 54-hole event includes three 18-hole rounds Thursday-Saturday at the 6,298-yard par-72 Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club. Cnops is set for an 8:25 a.m. tee-time round one Thursday and a 12:45 p.m. tee-time Friday with the final round tee times set based on tournament standing. Live scoring will be available via www.golfstatresults.com.

Cnops earned a bid to play as one of six individuals in the Central Regional. Twenty-four teams were also selected to play in the Central Region, where a total of 126 golfers will compete for a chance to advance to the NCAA Championship Finals. The top eight teams and top two individuals from each regional will advance to the finals.

Cnops is a two-time Southern Conference Player of the Year selection, earning her second straight honor this season after leading the league with a 73.09 stroke average. She posted four top five finishes, eight top 20 finishes and placed in the top 25 in all 10 events this year. Additionally, she represented her home country of Belgium in 2012 World Team Championships in Turkey, finishing 12th overall.

Cnops is making her second straight NCAA Regional appearance after earning a bid as an individual her freshman year. She placed 41st in the NCAA East Regional at the Penn State Blue Course, posting a score of 224 (75-76-73). She finished her first career postseason appearance with a final round 1-over par 73, making the Spartans' first NCAA appearance since Jenny Gleason in 2003.

The championships finals will be held May 21-24 at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Georgia and will be hosted by the University of Georgia.
