Fanny Cnops Completes Day Two At NCAA Central Regional
NORMAN, Okla. – UNCG sophomore women's golfer Fanny Cnops (Ghent, Belgium/K.A. Voskenslaan) concluded round two of the NCAA Central Regional Friday afternoon at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club, hosted by the University of Oklahoma. Cnops will conclude her three-day, 54-hole event Saturday with a 8:25 a.m. (CT) tee-time in round three.
Cnops, ranked No. 52 in the nation, sits in a tie for 76th place overall after posting a 7-over par 79 in round two. She sits 9-over par 153 after 36 holes heading into the final day.
Emily Collins, the 49th ranked golfer, holds the individual lead after two rounds with a 7-under par 137 after opening with a 67 in round one and a 2-under par 70 Friday. Mississippi State's Ally McDonald is just one shot off the lead at 6-under par 138 with back-to-back rounds of 3-under par 69.
Fourth-ranked Oklahoma leads the team portion of the competition with a 7-under par 569 (283-286) while third-ranked Duke is 1-under par 575 (284-291). The two teams are the only ones under par after 36 holes and will battle for the team title Saturday
Cnops is one of six individuals in the Central Regional. Twenty-four teams were also selected to play in the Central Region, for a total of 126 golfers. The top eight teams and top two individuals from each regional will advance to the finals.
The championships finals will be held May 21-24 at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Georgia and will be hosted by the University of Georgia.
