Cnops Moves Up 21 Spots On Day Two At Bryan National Collegiate
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG sophomore women's golfer Fanny Cnops (Ghent, Belgium/K.A. Voskenslaan) moved up 21 spots in the standings on day two of the 16th annual Bryan National Collegiate at the Bryan Park and Enrichment Center Champions Course. Cnops posted a 1-over par 73 Saturday afternoon to move into a tie for 43rd overall with a 151 (78-73).
The Bryan National is co-hosted by UNCG and Wake Forest with the 54-hole event running three days this weekend with 18 holes played each day. The Spartans will tee off round three Sunday morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring will be available via www.golfstat.com.
Virginia's Brittany Altomare sits alone in first place with a 4-under par 140 (70-70) after 36 holes and is just one of four golfers under par through the first two days. UNCG is 17th in the team standings after posting a score of 306 Saturday for a two-day score of 622, while the Cavaliers hold onto the top spot for the second straight day with a 574 (281-293).
Freshmen Sammie Buchanan (Bluffton, S.C./Bluffton) posted her second straight 7-over par score to sit in a tie for 75th overall with a 158 (79-79). Sophomore Berglind Bjornsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland/Reykjavik I Menntaskolinn) rebounded from a tough opening round to shoot a 3-over par 75 Saturday. Bjornsdottir is also tied for 75th overall with a 158 (84-75).
Freshman Lily Crane (Jamestown, N.C./Ragsdale) sits in 78th place with a 159 (80-79), while senior Courtney Taylor (Gastonia, N.C./Ashbrook) is 85th with a 162 (79-83).
The Champions Course at Bryan Park opened in 1990 and has proven to be a Rees Jones Masterpiece of design. Seven holes border scenic Lake Townsend. Ranked in 1990 as the runner-up best new public course in the country by Golf Digest, the Champions Course also hosted the 2012 US Public Links Championship.
