UNCG set to compete in Pinehurst Challenge
GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNCG women's golf team will travel to Pinehurst, N.C., Monday for the two-day Pinehurst Challenge. The event will be held at Pinehurst No. 6 and is hosted by College of Charleston.
This year's tournament will be a played to a par 72 at a length of 5,993 yards.
UNCG's Fanny Cnops will be looking to continue her success fresh off being named SoCon Golfer of the Month for February. Last week at the JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational in Florida, Cnops shot a 2-over par 218 thru 54 holes, finishing seventh as an individual. The freshman has also garnered SoCon weekly honors twice so far this spring season, including last week.
Each golfer will play 36 holes Monday beginning at 9 a.m. followed by 18 on Tuesday.

Tournament notes: UNCG (75) is one of nine top-100 teams in the field … the other are: NC State (21), East Carolina (51), Maryland (53), Penn State (78), Middle Tennessee (79), UNCW (96), Samford (97) and James Madison (98). … UNCG last participated in the Pinehurst Challenge in 2010, finishing in a ninth-place tie in the 18-team field.
