Spartan alumna Gleason qualifies for Women's U.S. Open

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG women's golf alumna Jenny Gleason earned a spot in the 2012 Women's U.S. Open last week after shooting even par at a sectional qualifying tournament in Ormond Beach, Fla.

Gleason shot back-to back rounds of 72 (144) at Plantation Bay Country Club to finish tied for second place.

The 2012 U.S. Women's Open will be played July 5-8 in Kohler, Wis., at the historical Blackwolf Run Championship Course. The field will be made up of 156 professional and amateur female golfers. Live television coverage of the event will take place on ESPN and NBC.

The Clearwater, Fla., native graduated from UNCG in 2003 with a degree in finance, insurance and real estate. As a collegiate golfer, Gleason recorded three individual victories and was a four-time All Southern Conference selection.
