GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNCG women's basketball freshman guard Lucy Mason (Stone Mountain, Ga./Chamblee Charter) has been named this week's Blue Chip Performer sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. The Blue Chip Performer will be chosen weekly from all sports in season and will run throughout the 2012-13 UNCG athletics campaign.
Mason set or matched a number of career highs in the 71-63 victory over Norfolk State Saturday at Fleming Gymnasium. She produced 22 points (personal best), seven rebounds, a trio of three-point field goals, four assists (career high) and two steals. Mason was also 5-for-8 from the line as the Spartans were 26-for-34 as a team (77 percent). She ended up at 50 percent from the field, draining seven of her 14 attempts.
