RALEIGH, N.C. – The UNCG men's track and field team posted six personal records Friday at the Raleigh Relays hosted by N.C. State at Paul H. Derr Track.

Sophomore Dylan Belles (Denver, N.C./East Lincoln) highlighted the evening as he shattered his personal-record in the 5,000-meter distance. Belles posted a time of 15:00.54 to finish second in his heat, which was third fastest in the three early heats at the 5,000-meter distance. He trimmed almost 38 seconds off his top time of 15:38.53 set last season during the indoor season at the Hokie Invitational.

Junior Tyron Alston (Mebane, N.C./Eastern Alamance) also turned in a strong showing as he finished second in his heat at the 1,500-meter distance. Alston posted a personal-best time of 3:58.17, his first time sub-four minutes as his previous top mark was 4:00.50 set earlier this season at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational.

Junior Abraham Kemboi (Eldoret, Kenya/Kipkabus) turned in a top time in the 10,000-meter race as he finished 20th overall with a time of 30:52.19. He cut over 10 seconds off his previous top time of 31:03.05 set last season at the Duke Invitational.

Freshman Chris Murphy (High Point, N.C./Ledford) turned in a new top time at the 1,500-meter race as well. Murphy recorded a time of 4:11.16, narrowly coming in under his time of 4:11.41 set earlier this season at the Wake Forest Open.

Freshman Joshua Crawford (Fayetteville, N.C./South View) posted a top finish in the 5,000-meter race as well turning in a time of 15:29.76 in his heat. Additionally, sophomore Brandon Cain (Graham, N.C./Coker College) posted a personal-best time in the 5,000-meter race finishing in 17th place in his heat with a time of 15:47.97.

The Spartans return to action next weekend at the Duke Invitational in Durham April 5-6 before running at the Joe Hilton Invitational in Chapel Hill April 13 in the final tune-up before the Southern Conference championships.
