GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro cross country will begin the 2019 season at the Elon Opener, taking place this Friday in Burlington, N.C. The women’s 4K will begin at 8:15 p.m. while the men’s 6K is scheduled to start at 8:40 p.m.

Amongst the schools expected to compete in the Elon Opener alongside UNCG are Elon, North Carolina, Duke, Coastal Carolina, North Carolina A&T, North Carolina Central, Campbell and UNCW.

In the 2019 SoCon Preseason Polls, UNCG’s men’s team was picked to finish in fourth place with 55 total votes while the women’s team earned 37 votes and is projected to finish in sixth place.

For the men’s team, the Spartans return four of their top five scorers and six of the top eight from the SoCon Championships including Brandon Hernandez, Trelek Jones, Thomas Knepshield, Dalton Miles, Dylan Christopher and Colin Alexander.

On the women’s side, every runner from last year’s team that competed in the SoCon Championships returns.
