GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior outfielder Andrew Moritz (Charlotte, N.C./Providence) and redshirt senior right-handed pitcher Easton Welch (Randleman, N.C./Gardner-Webb) have been selected to join UNCG’s Golden Chain Honor Society.

Golden Chain is singular and unique to the UNCG campus. Golden Chain was organized to recognize students who have made significant and meaningful contributions to the University community. From the beginning, the students inducted have been those who served the University and their fellow students in quiet as well as prominent ways. The seven links of the chain symbolize the qualities, which have always been prerequisite for election to membership: leadership, scholarship, service, tolerance, judgment, magnanimity, and character.

Nominations for membership of the Golden Chain Honor Society will be evaluated with respect to the seven qualities which are the seven links in the chain. Students must be a junior or senior with a grade point average over 3.25 to be eligible. Faculty and staff can also nominate students for membership.

Moritz and Welch, along with the rest of the UNCG baseball team, open the 2018 season on February 16th as they will host the Appalachian State Mountaineers to begin the season.
