GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro women’s tennis has added Ariana Chan, a transfer from Florida Gulf Coast, for the 2019-2020 season, head coach Ale Guerra announced Thursday. Playing this past fall with the Eagles, Chan will have three seasons of eligibility with the Spartans.

“I am very excited to welcome Ariana to our spartan family,” said Guerra. “She’s a great addition to building our team's success in the upcoming year.”

A native of Guayaquil, Ecuador, Chan garnered strong recognition in her high school career at Internacional Pert as she claimed a No. 1 national ranking in 2015 and 2016. That same year in 2016, she went on to play in the Junior Fed Cup hosted in Brazil. She participated in the Fed Cup in 2018 that was hosted in her hometown. In addition, she secured the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Copa Quito title in singles play and was a finalist in doubles. She also represented her country in the U-14 South American Championships.

Chan has been ranked as high as No. 575 in the ITF.
