Women's Tennis Falls at Liberty, 5-2

LYNCHBURG, Va.UNCG women’s tennis suffered a 5-2 loss to the Liberty Flames Saturday afternoon at the Crosswhite Athletic Club. UNCG falls to 3-4 on the season and the Flames improve to 5-5.

Competition started with the Flames taking the doubles point. UNCG fell in all three matches, with Nancy Bridges (Shelby, N.C./Shelby) and Blaine Boaz (Dunwoody, Ga./Saint Pius X) playing competitive but falling 6-5 (7-3) at No. 2.

Singles play saw Liberty jump out to a 4-0 lead after winning at No. 3, 2 and 4. Sophia Adams (Miami, Fla./TERRA Environmental Institute) got the Spartans on the board with a 0-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Rebekah Anderson at No. 5. UNCG dropped the matchup at No. 1 before Brianna Gomez (Miami, Fla./John A. Ferguson) closed the match with a tough 7-6 (7-5), 6-7 (6-8), 1-0 (10-7) win over Evangeline Crist at No. 6 to earn UNCG’s second point.
