LEXINGTON, Va. – UNCG men’s and women’s track wrapped up the Southern Conference Indoor Championships on Sunday at the VMI Corps Physical Training Facility. 

Juan Rodriguez placed eighth in the 800-meter-race finals with a time of 1:57.77, earning a point for the men’s team.

In the women’s 5,000-meter, Taylor Delaney (Hope Mills, N.C./South View) finished ninth with a time of 17:55.57, and Lefler McManus set a personal record at 18:54.28. Malea Smith (Davidson, N.C./William Amos Hough) and Holly Mordoff (Silver Spring, Md./Clarksburg) also competed in the event. 

The 4x400 men’s relay team of Weston Clayton (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook), Preston Gaines, Jonathan Timothy (Greenville, N.C.) and William Sandin (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) earned two points for the team. Gaines (400-meter) and Rodriguez (800-meter) were award all-freshmen in their respective events.

The outdoor season for the Spartans will begin on March 9-10 at UNCW’s Seahawk Invitational.
