WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Several UNCG men’s and women’s track and field runners set personal records at the UCS Invitational on Saturday at JDL FastTrack. The men and women competed in just seven events in the meet.

Juan Rodriguez highlighted the day’s performances of top times with a converted time of 1:55.70 in the 800-meter-run. A personal record, the time is the seventh-best in the Southern Conference. Also running in the event were Jonathan Timothy (Greenville, N.C./J.H. Rose), William Sandin (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) and Logan Sprinkle (King, N.C./West Stokes). Sprinkle (2:08.80) and Timothy (2:04.53) also got personal-bests in the event.

Running alongside Jeffrey Beane (Asheboro, N.C./Asheboro) in the 60-meter hurdles was Colyn Todd (New Castle, Del/Roman Catholic), who registered a personal-best of 8.66. Palmer Dupree (Charlotte, N.C./Hickory Ridge) also ran in the 60-meter.

On the ladies’ side, Nautica Friday (Lexington, N.C.) led the way in the 60-meter with an 8.07, her top time of her collegiate career. Alexis Rice (Charlotte, N.C./Ardery Kell) also got a personal-best of 8.21, and Antonia Smith (Benson, N.C./West Johnston) joined them in the event with a time of 8.29. Madison Owings (Apex, N.C./Apex) (2:34.57) and Ashlyn Dalton (2:35.19) ran personal-bests in the 800-meter alongside Kayla Wetherell (Youngsville, N.C./Franklington). Anna Habich collected her best time in the 400-meter with a 1:10.79. Kayla Contreras (Ravensdale, Wash./Tahoma) turned in a personal top-time of 5:56.64 in the one-mile.

Up next for UNCG is the SoCon Indoor Track & Field Championships next weekend hosted by VMI. The conference championship will run on both Saturday and Sunday starting at 1:00 p.m.
