Cross Country Competes at Pirate Invitational in Greenville

GREENVILLE, N.C. – UNCG cross country took the course Friday afternoon at the East Carolina Cross Country Pirate Invitational at Lake Kristi. Seven runners competed for UNCG on the men’s side, led by William Sandin’s (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) 23rd place finish. The women also sent runners to Greenville, with Ariana Garcia (Beulaville, N.C./East Duplin) also finishing 23rd. The men finished in eighth place, with the women coming in fourth.

On the men’s side, UNCG ran its first 8,000-meter run of the season. Sandin ran a 25:26.87, setting a new personal best. Finishing behind Sandin was Juan Rodriguez and Trelek Jones (Lynchburg, Va./Wake Forest) finishing with times of 26:19.84 and 26:54.62, respectively.

For the women, Garcia led the way with a time of 23:05.14 in the 6,000 meter race, with India Godlcok (Polk County, N.C./Polk County) finishing on her heels in 24th with a time of 23:17.91.
