Women’s Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season at Seahawk Invitational
WILMINGTON, N.C. – Opening up the outdoor portion of its 2016-17 schedule, UNCG women’s track and field posted favorable results in its limited races Saturday at the UNCW hosted Seahawk Invitational at the Harold Greene Track and Field Complex.
The Spartans’ highest finish came in the 4x100 meter relay, when the team of Amber Dickens (Washington, D.C./Friendship Collegiate), Nautica Friday, Mikkayla Hailey (Monroe, N.C./Central Academy of Technology & Arts) and Alexis Rice posted a 53.07 to take 11th.
In the mile, Kayla Wetherell (Youngsville, N.C./Franklinton) finished 31st, crossing the finish line in 5:49.54. Not far behind was Holly Mordoff (Silver Spring, Md./Clarksburg) in 38th, timing in at 5:54.60.
UNCG closed out the meet in the 200 meters, in which Rice was the high finisher for the Blue and Gold with a time of 27.34, good for 35th-place.
