SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Junior tennis player Nancy Bridges (Shelby, N.C./Shelby) earned the Southern Conference’s Player of the Week honor for her performance in two matches last week. Bridges went 3-1, competing at No. 1 singles, No. 1 doubles and a match at No. 2 doubles. UNCG went 0-2 in two matches last week.

Bridges opened the week with by partnering with Blaine Boaz (Dunwoody, Ga./Saint Pius X) and earning a 6-4 win over Valeria Koussenkova and Filippa Ericson at No. 2 doubles against Charleston Southern. Also against Charleston Southern, Bridges earned a 6-3, 7-5 win over Sophie Cloessner at No. 1 singles. Against the No. 41 Clemson Tigers, Bridges fell in doubles play, but showed grit as she earned a 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 1-0 (10-8) win over Fernanda Navarro at No. 1 singles. Bridges has earned a 6-3 overall singles record, including a 6-1 mark at No. 1.
