GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG women's basketball says goodbye to 2017 and the non-conference schedule Sunday afternoon as it hosts the Lees-McRae Bobcats at 2 p.m. in Fleming Gym. The Spartans enter after falling to High Point Thursday night at home. The Bobcats have won back-to-back games against Virginia-Wise and Mars Hill.

Three Spartans average double figures, led by sophomore Nadine Soliman (Cairo, Egypt/Mokattam Language School). Soliman scores 13.1 points per game and shoots 40-percent from the field. She leads the team with 21 steals. Fellow sophomore Alexus Willey (Waldorf, Md./Riverdale Baptist) adds 11.4 points per game and leads the Spartans with 23 made 3-pointers.
UNCG's lone senior has come on strong offensively over the last two games. Ije Ajemba (Lanham, Md./Old Dominion) has scored 22 points in back-to-back games against Presbyterian and High Point. Ajemba leads the Southern Conference with 11.4 rebounds per game, ranking 13th nationally. She hauls down 8.0 defensive rebounds per game to rank 17th in the nation and her 160 total rebounds is seventh in the country.
Brandi Fier (South Beloit, Ill./Illinois Central) leads the Spartans with 55 assists on the year and chips in 6.8 points per game. Te'ja Twitty (Rutherfordton, N.C./Rutherfordton-Spindale Central) came up big against High Point, scoring 16 points, shooting 7-of-12 from the field and hitting a pair of free throws.
The Blue and Gold continue to be tough on the glass, outrebounding its opponents by 3.6 rebounds per game. With a difference of 36 offensive rebounds, the Spartans have outscored their opponents by 49 on second chance points.
The Bobcats sport a 4-5 record and have won two-straight games. Away from home this season, Lees-McRae is 1-5. They have played one other Division I school, opening the season at Coastal Carolina where they fell 73-47. The Bobcats are a Division II program that competes in the Conference Carolinas. UNCG faced off with another Conference Carolinas opponent earlier this season, defeating Southern Wesleyan.
Four Bobcats average double figures, led by the current Conference Carolinas women's basketball player of the week, Brea Forbes. Forbes averages 15.0 points per game and shoots 47-percent from the field. She scored a season-high 25 points on two occasions, both wins. Markia Stacey adds 14.3 points per game and leads the team with 63 assists. She has a 2.3 assists/turnover ratio that ranks 26th in Division II. Her 7.9 assists per game average is third-best in Division II. Freshman Carli Mason has made an impact in her first season, averaging 11.8 points per game and leads the Bobcats with 32 made 3-pointers. Mackenzie Blankenship adds 11.1 points per game and shoots 42-percent from the field.
The Bobcats average 42.2 rebounds per game, led by Forbes' 7.2 per game average. Stacey adds 4.9 rebounds per game with Meg Crawford and Grace Canella adding 4.3 and 4.0 rebounds per game, respectively. On the defensive end, Crawford leads the Bobcats with 2.3 blocks per game and Forbes averages 3.3 steals per contest.
