Volleyball Signs Two for the 2018 Season

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG volleyball has announced the signing of two players for the upcoming season. Stephanie Meysembourg (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) and Anna Gianni (Port Orange, Fla./Spruce Creek) will join the Spartans next season. Meysembourg is defensive specialist from Noblesville, Ind. and Gianni is a right side hitter from Port Orange, Fla.

Meysembourg is a three-year letterwinner at Noblesville High under head coach Steve Hawthorne. There she led the Millers to a 2017 sectional championship, the first in 15 years for NHS. They were also a regional runner up. Meysembourg earned Academic All-State honors, a team captain as a senior and she finished second on the team in aces this year.

She has competed for two seasons with the Team Indiana club team. She was an honorable mention gym dandy last season as she helped Team Indiana to a successful two seasons. With Meysembourg in the back court, Team Indiana won the TI Classic, finished second at the Nike President’s Day Classic in 17 open, took second place at the MLK Challenge and placed third at the MEPL 17s age group. Team Indiana finished fifth at JVA Summerfest, fifth at the CZ invite and 13th at AAU Nationals, going 7-3.

She is the daughter of Rod and Lori Meysembourg and has two siblings. She plans to major in kinesiology while at UNCG.

Giannini comes to UNCG having lettered for all four seasons at Spruce Creek High in Port Orange, Fla. Giannini ensures that UNCG will have another player from Spruce Creek High as senior Anna Romaniszyn (Port Orange, Fla./Spruce Creek) will finish up her Spartan career in the NIVC. Gianni played under head coach Cara Swayze. This year, Giannini was named first team All-District and was a Player of the Year nominee. She was second team All-District in 2016 and garnered Outstanding Achievement Award by All Star Preps. She led Class 9A, District 1 in blocks as a junior and was ther team’s Most Valuable Player. She added a first team All-District selection, Tournament MVP and Offensive MVP as a sophomore. Her freshman year started with Spruce Creek’s Offensive MVP award and was named second team All-District.

Giannini has spent 10 seasons playing club volleyball in the AAU and USAV. She recently competed for DME Sports under head coach Brittany Williams. In three seasons, went 121-3. In the 2014 season, led her team to a semifinal appearance in the premier division for 16 and under. In 2015, she led her club team to a finals appearance in the premier division for 17 and under and in her final season, led her team to another semifinal appearance for 18 and under.

She has competed internationally for the Team Florida Girls International Youth team in 2015. She competed against the Dominican Republic at High Performance Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.

She is the daughter of Andrew and Linda Giannini and has four older sisters. Intends to major in psychology at UNCG.
