GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG women’s basketball is set to matchup with the Campbell Camels Saturday at 4 p.m. in Fleming Gymnasium. UNCG is coming off of a 74-61 victory Tuesday night over the VCU Rams and is now 4-1 on the young season. Campbell enters at 3-1, having won three-straight games after dropping the season opener at Kansas.

After falling to Eastern Kentucky last Saturday, UNCG rebounded to defeat VCU Tuesday night at home. UNCG’s 4-1 start is the best five-game start since the 2006-07 season when UNCG finished 20-10. The Spartans have been tough at home under head coach Trina Patterson. After going 14-4 in Fleming Gym last season, UNCG is off to a 3-0 start in front of its home fans this year.

The Spartans have outscored opponents by an average of 23.4 points per game, the largest margin in the Southern Conference. UNCG is shooting 45-percent from the field (139-of-306) while limiting opponents to a .339 (95-of-280) shooting percentage. The Spartans have dominated opponents on the boards, outrebounding opponents by an average of seven per game.

Nadine Soliman (Cairo, Egypt/Mokattam Language School) leads the Spartan offense with a 17.2 points per game average. Te’ja Twitty (Rutherfordton, N.C./Rutherfordton-Spindale Central) adds 11.0 points per game and brings down 7.2 rebounds per game.

Brandi Fier (South Beloit, Ill./Illinois Central) adds 10.8 points per game and has dished out a team-best 25 assists. Fier is third in the league with 5.0 assists per game average. Ije Ajemba (Lanham, Md./Old Dominion) leads the Southern Conference with 11.8 rebounds per game. Ajemba has brought down 59 boards ranking seventh in the nation. She adds 7.6 points per game.

Campbell enters Saturday’s game at 3-1. After dropping the first game of the season at Kansas, the Camels have won three-straight. During the winning streak, Campbell has defeated William Peace, USC Upstate and the College of Charleston.

Campbell was picked to finish third in the Big South in the preseason poll. Summer Price and Carolina Bowns lead the Camel offense. Price was selected to preseason second team All-Big South after earning All-Big South honors during her junior season. She currently leads the team with a 13.8 points per game average. Bowns, a junior guard, is second on the team with a 10.5 points per game average.
