SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNC Greensboro placed 33 student-athletes on the 2019 Spring Academic All-Southern Conference Team, announced by the league office Tuesday. The Spartans had 10 teams represented, led by eight selections from women’s indoor track. Women’s golf accrued the second-most selections with five. Women’s outdoor track, men’s indoor track and softball each had four honorees. Baseball added three, and women’s basketball had a pair of selections. Women’s tennis, men’s golf and men’s outdoor track all had one student-athlete selected.

To be eligible for the academic all-conference team, student-athletes must have at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average at the end of the semester of competition and have completed at least three semesters academically. The student-athlete must have also competed in at least one-half of the team’s competition.

The Spartans had nine earn a perfect 4.0 GPA on the academic team in baseball’s Zach Kuchmaner, men’s golf’s Nick Lyerly, softball’s Kylie Bouplon, Makenna Matthijs and Kayleigh Willis, Tara Bettle, Lexi Kershaw and Louisa Tichy of women’s golf and Taylor Delaney and India Godlock of women’s track.

The SoCon set a new record with 580 student-athletes earn Academic All-Conference honors for the spring.
