GREENSBORO, N.C. – After knocking off Presbyterian in the Saturday morning portion of the Spartan-Demon Deacon Classic, UNC Greensboro volleyball (2-1) split the day’s action falling to Wake Forest on Saturday night 3-0 at Fleming Gymnasium. During the decision against the Demon Deacons, UNCG dropped sets by 25-20, 25-19 and 25-21. 

Earlier in the day, UNCG knocked off Presbyterian in three sets (25-20, 25-22, 25-22) to pick up its second victory of the season. 

Juniors Holly Behrends and Maria Esch were selected to Spartan-Demon Deacon Classic All-Tournament team for their efforts over UNCG’s first three games of the season. 

Three Things To Know From Match Vs. Presbyterian 
--With the victory, the Spartans started the year 2-0 for the second time in three years as UNCG also began the 2017 season with victories over UMass Lowell and Morgan State. 

--The 3-0 victory was UNCG’s first straight-sets win since Oct. 20, 2018, when the Spartans took down The Citadel. 

--UNCG is now 2-0 in the all-time series against Presbyterian. 

Three Things To Know From Match Vs. Wake Forest 
--Four freshmen were in the starting lineup, as Gabriela McHugh and Elyane Grisbee were joined by Hannah Knier and Grey Breen, both of whom were making their first collegiate starts. 

--The loss snapped a four-game home winning streak dating back to Nov. 9, 2018, when the Spartans defeated Wofford 3-1. 

--UNCG remains at five victories in the all-time series against Wake Forest as the two Triad schools have met 17 times dating back to 1980.

The Spartans will next be in action on Friday and Saturday as they participate in the Maverick Classic in Arlington, Texas. On Friday night, UNCG will share the court with Southern before facing Incarnate Word and Texas-Arlington on Saturday,
