GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG baseball team earned its 10th win over an ACC school in the last seven years on Tuesday evening when the Spartans posted a 9-5 victory over visiting Wake Forest at the UNCG Baseball Stadium.
The offensive explosion by the Spartans (16-7) came by virtue of 15 hits, one shy of the single-game season-high (16), which came in the season opener against Quinnipiac on Feb. 16. Wake Forest dropped to 15-11 in the setback after being held to seven hits, three of which came in the final two innings.
Five UNCG hitters had multiple hits in the game, including Caleb Webster, who went 4-for-5 from the plate with an RBI and a run scored. David Flores, who had a team-high three RBI, came through with his third double and first triple of the season.
Also recording multiple hits for the Spartans were Jacquez Koonce (2-4, RBI), Ryan Caveness (2-5, 2 runs) and Josh Madole (2-3, 2 runs). Greg Hardison, who finished 1-for-2 from the plate with a pair of RBI, extended his hitting streak to 11 straight games with a two-run single in the fourth inning.
The big inning for the Spartans came in the fourth, when facing a 1-0 deficit, UNCG opened the frame with a Caveness single up the middle. After Hogan Windish and Madole walked to load the bases, Flores sent a two-out double to right-centerfield to score both Windish and Caveness. Hardison followed with a single down the left field line, plating Flores and Madole, to make for a 4-1 lead.
UNCG would add two runs each in both the sixth and seventh innings, stretching the lead to 8-1. Flores brought in one of the runs in the sixth with a triple that reached the right field wall and Webster accounted for the other with a single through the right side of the infield.
Four pitchers toed the rubber for UNCG, including starter Jeremiah Triplett, who allowed one run and one hit over two innings before giving way to Austin Parsley. Parsley (2-0) worked the next three innings of the contest, allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out four Demon Deacon hitters.

HEAD COACH LINK JARRETT ANALYSIS
"I am very proud of the outcome of our game. A quality win over a quality opponent. (Jeremiah) Triplett threw very well, however our defense in the first inning was not up to our standards. Fortunately Jeremiah pitches around the mistakes, but it drove his pitch count up. (Austin) Parsley mixed his pitches effectively keeping Wake off balance. He threw very well. (Jack) Voigt was throwing very well until the eighth inning, but he was able to close out the eighth and Jackson closed it out. (Caleb) Webster and (David) Flores had great at bats, Flores’ double with the bases loaded was a huge momentum changing swing. Many guys in the lineup had good nights. The quality of our at bats and two-strike hitting was very good tonight. (Ryan) Caveness caught a nice game- really received and blocked well all night. I am proud of our team after a long weekend on the road, long bus trip and our guys showed toughness again tonight."
