GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro women’s basketball (6-9) starts Southern Conference play Thursday when the Spartans travel to Greenville, S.C., to face Furman (8-7).

-The Spartans lead the SoCon in field-goal percentage defense, rebound margin, scoring defense and three-point field goals defense.
-Junior guard Nadine Soliman ranks second in the SoCon and ranks 48th in the NCAA with 18.7 points per game

-Soliman has recorded 1,266 career points and needs 112 points to enter the top-five in school history.

The Spartans fell to Richmond 59-48 last week to begin the New Year as sophomore forward Aja Boyd recorded her second consecutive double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Soliman leads the team with 18.7 points per game, which is second in the Southern Conference and ranks 48th in the NCAA, and averages 7.7 rebounds, which ranks third in the SoCon, 1.9 steals, which ranks tied for fourth in the conference, and 2.2 assists, while junior forward Te’ja Twitty averages 12.5 points, which ranks ninth in the SoCon, and 7.8 rebounds, which ranks second in the conference and Boyd averages 9.1 points, which ranks tied for 13th in the SoCon and 7.4 rebounds, which ranks fourth in the conference.
The Spartans lead the SoCon in field goal percentage defense (36.3 percent), rebounding margin (2.8), scoring defense (55.9), which ranks 29th in the country and three-point field goal defense (23.1 percent), which ranks eighth in the country.
UNCG holds a slight 24-23 advantage over Furman as both teams split the series last season with each team winning on their home court in very competitive games. UNCG won the first matchup last season with a 76-74 win in double overtime, while Furman won 55-54.
Furman is 1-3 in the last four games and lost to North Greenville 78-74 the last time out. The Paladins are led by Le’Jzae Davidson with 17.7 points per game, while Celena Taborn averages 12.6 points and 5.4 rebounds and Kaitlyn Duncan leads the team with 7.1 rebounds per game.
The Spartans stay in South Carolina to face Wofford Saturday at 2 p.m. in Spartanburg before returning home for a three-game homestand.
