GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro women’s soccer has added transfer Sophie Stewart-Hobbs for the 2019 season, head coach Michael Coll announced Monday. A starting midfielder at Kentucky during the 2017 season, Stewart-Hobbs will enroll at UNCG in the spring semester and have two seasons of eligibility as a Spartan.

A native of Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, Stewart-Hobbs sat out this past season at Kentucky. She started 10 of 20 games for the Wildcats the previous year. She played in all three matches for New Zealand in their run at the 2016 U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Papa New Guinea – in addition to appearing in two matches for the country at the 2014 U-17 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.

Stewart-Hobbs joins the recruiting class of Abby Buchholz, Maddy Gilhool, Ciani Ricks and Gabi Santora as newcomers for next season.
